Ari Vatanen to Star at RallyDay

The 1981 World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen will be the star at this year's RallyDay, due to be held on Saturday 19th September at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire. The popular Finn scored 10 WRC rally wins and 27 podium positions in a career that spanned 101 WRC rallies. He was also British Rally Champion in 1979 and 1980 driving a Ford Escort and co-driven by David Richards, future chairman of Prodrive the Banbury based motorsport team and one of the most influential figures in global motorsport.
Following his years of working with a French rally team, in 1993 Vatanen settled in southern France where he bought a farm and a winery. He developed an interest in politics and was elected to the European Parliament in 1999 for the conservative Finnish National Coalition party, despite continuing to live in France.
He stood as one of the main candidates for the presidency of the FIA in 2009 but was beaten by his former boss at Peugeot Jean Todt.
RallyDay is acknowledged as Europe's premier Rally Car Show and celebrates its 15th anniversary this year with a large selection of attractions for rally enthusiasts including an extensive trade village, rally club displays, star driver demonstrations, interviews and autograph sessions.
Advance ticket sales offer a 25% reduction on the day prices with an adult ticket costing £15 and children under 16 going free!
