Kris Meeke & Mads Ostberg join Citroen

Kris Meeke has finally secured the works drive that he dreamt about when it was confirmed today that he will partner Mads Ostberg in leading the Citroen team on its 2014 World Rally Championship assault.

The County Tyrone star had driven for the French manufacturer twice this season, but with far from successful results, while Ostberg switches from the M-Sport squad where he scored his maiden WRC win in Portugal last year. Meeke said: "It's an incredible opportunity; I've always been close to Citroen over the last few years. I'm really lucky to be able to work with a team that has so much experience and so many titles."

Meeke is relatively inexperienced at WRC level having only contested ten world championship rallies in a WRC to date, unlike his more experienced team mate Ostberg, who has contested 65 WRC events

Khalid Al Qassimi will also compete in a factory Citroen in 2014, driving a DS3 WRC in Sweden, Portugal, Italy and Spain as well as returning for a Middle East campaign. Today's announcement ends Mikko Hirvonen's lackluster two-year spell with Citroen and the Finn is expected to rejoin M-Sport along with Robert Kubica.
