Nigel Raeburn 1943 - 2017
The IRDC is sad to report the death of longtime member Nigel Raeburn on Thursday 12 October 2017. Nigel was one of the most successful rally navigators ever, while also holding-down a senior role within the IBM corporation for over thirty years.
Nigel cited his most satisfying win as the 1970 Welsh international with Will Sparrow, mainly because they were still quite inexperienced at forest rallying and never expected to do so well. Among other memorable wins Nigel included the Tour of Mull with Bob Bean, as the island of Mull was so special, the iconic Cilwendig Motoring News with Will and also securing a Gold Medal on Le Jog with Andy Nash.
For Nigel, rallying was really a hobby and he turned down several opportunities of works drives and was more at home on UK road rallies and later, historics.
