Glorious Goodwood

With lovely weather, fantastic cars and 152,000+ spectators over three days the Goodwood Festival of Speed did not disappoint. A large number of drivers covered the rally stage including Sebastien Loeb, Danni Sordo, Kris Meeke, Hannu Mikola, Rauno Altonen, Mark Higgins, the Gwynne dynasty and young Tom Cave fresh from Rally Poland to name a few.

Southern Car Club ran another superb event with the infamous Rick Smith at the helm and a great team helping to put on a rally extravaganza that has been described the ?biggest and best yet?.

Each year the "Sheka Mehta spirit of the rally award" is presented to a driver who shows commitment to the whole weekend. This years recipient was David Kedward who not only drove a Lancia 037 but also changed the clutch on the Saturday to allow him to compete on the Sunday. Not content with that David also ran a Peugeot 405 T16 Paris Dakar car in Camel colours which meant he had to park up the Lancia and run over to the Peugeot to do take that out??well done and well deserved award.

It was good to see so many International Rally Drivers Club members over the weekend enjoying the hospitality. Thank you to all who helped over the weekend and made this a great event for the IRDC.....
